Italy: Sending Troops To Ukraine Is Possible Only Within UN

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Antonio Tayani said that they can consider sending troops to Ukraine to create buffer zones only within the framework of the United Nations peacekeeping mission (UN).

Tayani performed in the House of Representatives, the lower house of parliament, with a statement about the idea of ​​sending troops from Europe to Ukraine and creating buffer zones, which is on the agenda in recent days.

noting that he does not consider the sending of European or NATO troops to Ukraine useful, Tayan said: “If the buffer zone must be created, the soldiers must be sent here under the UN flag.”

Tayani emphasized that such forces should be attached to the UN so that they are neutral.

Meanwhile, government sources informed the Italian news agency ANSA that the idea of ​​sending Italian troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission is currently not on the agenda.

Deputy Secretary for the implementation of the government program of Giovanbattist Fazzolari stated at one of the events that this issue has never been discussed in the government, adding that this idea has long been supported by France, but Italy does not see an effective solution in it.
