Basic consumer inflation in Japan in the fiscal year 2022 (from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023) amounted to 3 percent, which is the highest in 1981. This follows from the country’s statistics on the country’s administrative affairs and communications, TASS reports.
At the same time, in March this key indicator of inflation, which does not take into account the prices of perishable products that are subject to too strong fluctuations, amounted to, as in February, 3.1 percent. Prices growth rates sharply slowed after a peak value of 4.2 percent in January. It is on this index that the Japanese Bank sets the target indicator of inflation. Inflation taking into account perishable goods in March amounted to 3.2 percent.
