Japan plans to purchase in the United States from 400 to 500 Tomahawk wingeds with a radius of more than 1600 km, the newspaper The Washington Post reports with reference to Japanese and American government sources.
Tokyo is most disturbed by the prospect of a military decision by China Taiwan’s question. The radius of action of “tomahawks” allows them to achieve the territory of mainland China or North Korea if these countries decide not to limit themselves to threats to Japan, BBC notes.
Tomagavka in Japan is considered as an intermediate solution – it is supposed to purchase several hundred units for five years in anticipation of its own wings of Type 12 missiles, which may enter the horizon of 10 years.
Biden administration supports the re -equipment of Japan. Until now, the United States has sold Tomagavka only Great Britain.
