Japan as the chairman of the Seven Group (G7) will promote sanctions against Russia, the Prime Minister of the country Fumio Kisida said at a press conference.
“We intend to vigorously promote sanctions against Russia, assistance to Ukraine and cooperation with neighboring countries in collaboration with members of the Seven.
Kisida also stated that during the discussions as the only representative of Asia in the “Group of Seven” he intends to emphasize that “the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific region are inseparable.”
Japan previously introduced several packages of sanctions against Russia. In particular, assets of a number of banks were frozen and export restrictions were introduced. Tokyo also imposed sanctions against 900 people and more than 50 organizations.
