Japanese banks reduced investments and financing of projects in Russia by the end of March by 15.35% compared to the same period last year, reports Yomiuri with reference to the statistics of the Central Bank of Japan.
According to information, the total amount of loans, investments and other financing by Japanese banks of Russian projects by the end of March amounted to $ 8.02 billion. At the same time, the total funding of foreign projects in the world amounted to $ 5.02 trillion. The amount of loans and other financing by Japanese banks by the end of 2021 was at the level of $ 10 billion, but this size began to rapidly decrease with the outbreak of the Russian war against Ukraine. At the same time, the amount of loans will continue to decline, the newspaper notes.
The publication indicates that due to sanctions and problems with logistics, almost half of 168 Japanese companies stopped or temporarily suspended their activities in Russia.
