Japanese scientists declared the creation of a new vaccine, which in the future will be able to slow the aging of the body, transmits the ZME SCIENCE portal with reference to the study published in the Nature Aging journal.
According to the research materials, scientists revealed a marker protein in aging cells of people and mice, and then created a peptide vaccine aimed at it. This drug destroys the so-called “zombie cells”, which accumulate in the human body with age and lead to inflammatory processes.
To date, the tests on mice have been successfully completed: experimental rodents after the administration of the drug increased the life expectancy, metabolism accelerated and the manifestations of atherosclerosis decreased. According to scientists, in the future, the vaccine will be able to fight with age-related diseases, such as dementia, diabetes and atherosclerosis. However, for this it is necessary to identify other markers of aging cells against which the drug must act, so the research continues.
