Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jahun Bayramov spoke at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in the city of Dushanbe. Haqqin.az reported this in the press service of the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry.
Minister Bayramov thanked Kazakhstan for an effective chairmanship in the organization and thanked Tajikistan for discussing cooperation issues in the CIS in the context of mutual understanding, as well as for organizing a high -level meeting.
The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan noted the successful development of friendly relations between countries in the CIS format and brought to the attention of the participants in the event that this year many union members celebrate a significant date – the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
It was noted that this anniversary is a good opportunity to look at the paths traveled by the countries, to learn from the past, to summarize many years of cooperation and determine plans for the future.
Jaykhun Bayramov emphasized that in accordance with the agenda of the meeting, it is provided for the adoption of a number of documents that contribute to further cooperation between the CIS member states, including in the humanitarian sphere. It was noted that Azerbaijan considers the formats of cooperation in the field of education, science, culture, healthcare, tourism, work with youth and other areas.
The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan also informed the participants in the meeting about the post -conflict situation in the region. It was noted that the conflict remained in the past, and at present the main task of Azerbaijan is the restoration of the liberated territories, ensuring the long -term world and stability by discovering economic and communication ties.
The Minister emphasized Azerbaijan’s readiness to normalize relations with Armenia, including the signing of a peace treaty and the beginning of the process of delimitation of borders. He stated that, in this regard, steps were taken upon the beginning of the negotiation process under a peace agreement, including the chairmen and format of national borders between the two countries.
