Not a lack of oxygen, and the stop of the heart caused by a complex of factors, including diseases and drug use, was the cause of the death of the dark-skinned George Floyd in May 2020 in Minneapolis (Minnesota). Such an opinion expressed David Fowler with the pathologist by the pathologist, giving testimony in the undergoing lawsuit in this case, reports TASS.

The accused is the former policeman Derek Schovin, who applied the suffocating reception at the detainment of Floyd on May 25 last year. African American died shortly after that. On May 26, Sovina and three more policemen who participated in the arrest of Floyd, fired. The defendant is incriminated to the disaster murder. If it is confirmed guilty, then they can sentence to imprisonment for up to 40 years.
Fowler, who for 17 years was the main forensic examination of the state of Maryland, was called for the giving testimony by lawyer Shovina Eric Nelson. An expert, answering the questions of the defender about the causes of the death of Floyd, noted that the African American “suddenly arose arrhythmia.” Among the factors that caused these factors called the disease of the heart, from which Floyd suffered, as well as the circumstances of his detention. Fowler noted that the use of drugs containing fentanyl and methamphetamine played a certain role. According to the expert, one of the reasons could be the fact that African American inhaled exhaust gases from the car standing nearby. “All this in the aggregate caused the death of Floyd,” – concluded Fowler.
The prosecutor’s office insists that African American died as a result of the shoven when the arrest applied a suffocating reception. Fowler did not agree with this and explained that he did not consider what had happened to the murder. At the same time, answering questions from representatives of the prosecutor’s office, he noted that Floyd followed a timely medical assistance. The pathologist indicated that an African American had no symptoms characteristic of those who experience the lack of oxygen.
It is expected that the performance of protection witnesses will be completed this week. It is planned that the parties will perform with concluding statements on Monday.
