Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in an interview with CNN Portugal, said that Ukraine’s partners responded differently to the beginning of the Russian invasion, in particular, the German authorities invited Kyiv to surrender and not continue the conflict.
According to Johnson, Germany at some point believed that if this happens, then a disaster will happen, so it is better to finish it quickly with everything, and to Ukraine to surrender.
Johnson added that France, in turn, before the beginning of hostilities, believed that the conflict would not grow into an open military confrontation. He also criticized the Italian government, which at that time headed Mario Draga, due to the fact that it refused to support the position of other states due to dependence on Russian hydrocarbons.
