November 22 in Dubai is expected to sign an agreement between Israel, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates on Water Resources and Energy Cooperation, reports Walla.
It is noted that Israel intends to purchase electricity from the company based in the UAE, which will erect high-power solar power plants in one of the deserted Jordan areas. And in exchange for electricity, Jordan will receive Israeli desalinated water in quantity, twice the current supplies.
According to preliminary data, the contract became the result of secret negotiations, which three countries began after the conclusion of the so-called “Avraam’s agreements”.
It is assumed that the new impetus to these contacts gave the change of Israeli government.
It is reported that the Energy Minister Karin Elharar will sign with the Israeli side, with Jordan’s Water Minister Muhammad al-Nuzhar.
According to the publication, to sign the agreement was planned two weeks ago, during the Climate Conference in Glasgow. However, the Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett decided to postpone the ceremony until the state budget was approved. Energy supplied by Israel will be about 2% of the need of the Jewish state and 7-8% of the entire renewable energy consumed in 2030. But an equally important task will be to strengthen relations with the problematic Eastern neighbor.
