Journalist Gengiz Mustafaev would have turned 62 years old

Today, August 29, the birthday of the devoted son of the Azerbaijani people of the national hero Genghis Mustafaeva.

The man of the most peaceful and humane profession – the doctor Mustafaev enthusiastically and conscientiously worked in the Devchinsky district hospital, treated people and was going to devote his life to this noble mission. But the war in Karabakh began, and he could not remain aloof from the events in which the fate of his homeland was decided. He changed the white robe of the doctor to the army uniform, and instead of the machine gun he picked up the camera.

Genghis saw his new calling in reporting – honest and incorruptible television journalism, capable of telling the whole world about the aggression undertaken by the Armenian military against Azerbaijan, and at the same time encouraging the Azerbaijani people to fight the enemy. For himself, he chose not a machine gun, but to the television camer – no less effective weapon to protect the honor and dignity of the Fatherland.

Genghis Mustafaev was one of the first to break through the information blockade, in which the republic was in the 90s, telling and showing in their reports that were broadcast by leading television agencies and television channels of America and Europe, as Armenian militants capture Azerbaijani lands as They mock and kill peaceful inhabitants, as brutally destroy the population of the whole city of Khojaly.

A person is extraordinary and talented, he very soon became a professional military journalist, fearlessly, under bullets, taking off his fights with the enemy, telling about the brave Azerbaijani soldiers. The programs of the studio “215 cells” – “no one will be forgotten”, “face to face”, reports from the places of hostilities, holding their breath, the whole country looked, and the youth after the air of Genghis Mustafaev went to the front volunteers.

On June 15, 1992, during fierce battles in Karabakh, C. Mustafaev was mortally wounded by a mines fragment while trying to capture the offensive of the Azerbaijani army. The camera at that moment continued to shoot … In 1993, he was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.

Today, Genghiz Mustafaev could be 62 years old. But the Motherland was in danger, and he went to protect her, fight his camera, his journalistic gift and forever remained in the memory of the people by a young, smiling, kind and brave guy, whose meaning to serve his country, his compatriots, independent journalism …
