Journalists visited the bunker, in which in the early days of the war there was President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. Journalists of The Sunday Times told about a dark, devoid of windows and an extremely classified place.
According to them, only a small group of close to the Ukrainian leader had access to secret shelter. “The Ukrainian president, together with the environment, stayed in a shelter without light and mobile communications almost until the beginning of May 2022, although initially it was about several days,” reporters noted.
The first days of Zelensky practically did not leave the bunker, only sometimes he came to the surface to assure the Ukrainians that he had not gone anywhere and is in Kyiv. His team, who was isolated, received information about events thanks to its gadgets. Those who received an invitation to live in an underground bunker were supposed to sign a non -disclosure agreement. This agreement contained a ban on the disclosure of any details. Including the location of the object, its design and convenience. It was impossible even to talk about nutrition. According to the security protocol, passwords for entering the bunker changed daily.
The secret bunker has existed in Ukraine since the time of the USSR and has been created to ensure survival during a total nuclear war. Due to its design, it can withstand a direct blow of nuclear weapons and has its own life support systems, ventilation and water supply.
Over the past month, according to The Sunday Times, Zelensky visited the bunker only once.
