Georgian Central Election Committee confirmed the victory in the second round of the operating mayor of Tbilisi Kahi Kaladze, reports Satellite Georgia.
According to preliminary data of the CEC, after processing almost 100 percent of ballots in the capital, Kaladze scored 55.6% of votes. At the opposition candidate from the “Unified National Movement” Nicky Melia – 44.4%.
The gap between the candidates amounted to 51.7 thousand votes in favor of the candidate from the ruling party.
“The inhabitants of Tbilisi said their word … I am very happy. I feel more responsible for giving me the authority to manage the city second time. I will do everything possible with my team …” – said Kakha Kaladze after the election results.
