“Karabakh” against Victoria: last fight for Champions League

Today at 23:00 Baku time in the Czech Pilseni, the response match of the round-off of the Champions Football League between Victoria and Karabakh will begin. The first match, recall, ended with a score of 0: 0.

The current meeting will be judged by a team of referees from Portugal, headed by Arthur Diash.

In the event of the success of Karabakh for the second time in its history and history of Azerbaijani football, will break through the group round of the main club tournament in Europe. This first happened in 2017, when the Gurban Gurbanov team defeated the Danish “Copenhagen” (1: 0, 1: 2). In the group “Karabakh” went “Atletico”, “Chelsea” and “Roma”. As a result, the champion of Azerbaijan expectedly took the last place in the group, but prettyly patted the nerves of the Spaniards, playing a draw with them twice (0: 0, 1: 1).

Victoria, unlike Karabakh, played three times in the group stage of the Champions League and took 3rd place in the group all three times, continuing the struggle in the Europa League.

Karabakh and Victoria met in the 3rd qualification round of the Champions League of the 2016/17 season. The match in Pilsen ended with a score of 0: 0, and in Baku the Czechs were able to equalize the score in the end and went further – 1: 1.

It is worth recalling once again that Azerbaijani and Czech clubs held 11 matches in European competitions and so far our teams were not able to win a single victory. Today, “Karabakh” can interrupt this series.

In the current League of the Champions of the Agdam, the Polish “Lech”, the Swiss “Zurich” and the Hungarian “Ferencvarosh” have already passed. Victoria began the struggle with the 2nd round. Czechs were defeated by the Finnish Hick and the Moldavian Sheriff.

It is also worth saying that the loser of today’s match will play at the group stage of the Europa League.
