Kazakh President Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev invited Italian companies for cooperation and investment in various industries, especially in the mining and energy sectors.
Tokaev, on Thursday began his official visit to the capital of Italy Rome. He met with President Sergio Mattarella, Prime Minister Georgia Melony and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tayani.
According to the Italian news agency ANSA, during a meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tokaev and Tayani discussed investment capabilities between the two countries. The parties signed 16 memorandums of understanding in various fields – from financial cooperation to agribusiness, from traditional and renewable energy to trade.
President of Kazakhstan Tokaev said that the signed agreements opened a new page in relations with Italy:
“Cooperation in the field of the study of critical materials represents great opportunities for us. We are ready to become a supplier of critical minerals for Italy. Today in Kazakhstan there are more than 5 thousand undisguised deposits. We already produce 19 of 34 critical types of raw materials, which may be Italian companies are useful for the economy of the European Union. We invite Italian companies to develop partnerships in this sector. The energy sector is the cornerstone of our cooperation. Our country offers wide possibilities in the field of exploration of oil and gas fields, as well as renewable energy sources. “
On Friday, Tokaev will meet with Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of the Catholics and the President of the Vatican.
