Kazakhstan for the first time after the outbreak of war in Ukraine voted against the UN resolution requiring Russia to terminate military aggression and withdraw the armed forces from the territories of Ukraine. This was reported by the UN news service.
The General Assembly condemned the actions of Russia on the use of Crimea with the aim of aggression against Ukraine and an attempt to illegally capture the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. The document also mentions the request to immediately stop military invasion of Ukraine and withdraw all its armed forces from the country.
For the adoption of a resolution “violation of human rights in the Crimea and Sevastopol” 82 countries voted, 80 abstained, 14 – against. Among those who voted against, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Iran, North Korea, Syria and others.
note that Azerbaijan did not participate in the vote.
