Kazakhstan And Russian Federation Are Discussing Possibility Of Building Hydroelectric Power Plants On Irtysh River

Kazakhstan and Russia are discussing the possibility of building hydroelectric power stations on the Irtysh River.

The Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliev said that the agency is considering the construction of a new hydroelectric power station on the Irtysh River.

In particular, according to him, we are talking about the construction of a counter -regulator of the Shulbinsky hydroelectric power station, an independent station, which will also increase the capacity of the entire Irtysh cascade.

The project received the preliminary name Semipalatinsk hydroelectric power station, according to the design documentation. Previously, he was known as the Bulak hydroelectric station.

“This river, as you know, is border, so attracting the experience of our Russian colleagues is seen as a logical action. But nevertheless, it should be noted that the final decisions of the choice of partners are direct competencies of the Samruk-Kazin Foundation. I I think they should hold these negotiations with Russian companies, they must negotiate with other alternative service providers and make a decision based on the interests of the state. P>

In addition, Satkaliev said that three new TPPs – in Kokshetau, Semey and Ust -Kamenogorsk – will earn in 2028.

According to him, now there are three TPPs that the Russian company will build are at different stages of construction.
