Kazakhstan And Switzerland Deepen Cooperation In Field Of Nuclear Energy

The National Nuclear Operator of Kazakhstan – “Kazatomprom” and the Swiss company Axpo Power AG signed the first contract for the supply of Kazakhstani natural uranium concentrates for nuclear power plants in Switzerland Betznau and Leibstadt. JSC National Atomic Company Kazatoprom and the Swiss company Axpo Power AG together with Kernkraftwerk Leibstadt AG (KKL AG) signed the first contract for the supply of Kazakhstani uranium concentrates for the Betznau and Leibstadt nuclear power plants in Switzerland.

The signing ceremony took place in the Axpo Power AG head office as part of the visit of the Kazatomprom delegation to Switzerland.

“We are proud that the first commercial contract between Kazatom and Axpo opens the way to important cooperation between our companies. Expanding sales geography emphasizes the recognition of Kazatomprom as a reliable supplier of Uranus in the world market. The conclusion of a contract with the largest energy company in Switzerland opens a new chapter in the cooperation of Kazatomprom with operators of the nuclear power plants of Europe and strengthens its positions in the global uranium market.

JSC KAK Kazatprom is the national operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan for import -export uranium, rare metals, nuclear fuel for atomic electric stations. Since 2009, Kazakhstan has been the world leader in the production of natural uranium.
