Kazakhstan: Ban On Import Of Wheat Into Republic Entered Into Force

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan announced the introduction of a ban on the import of wheat into the territory of the republic.

“According to statistics, according to the results of the first half of the current year, the import of wheat amounted to 1.3 million tons, which is almost equal to the annual volume of imports of 2023, while in the domestic market of Kazakhstan there are enough stocks of wheat of last year’s crop,” the Kazakhstani report said in a statement by Kazakhstan departments.

The Ministry of Agriculture indicated that thanks to the measures and favorable weather conditions during the growing season, the agency predicts a good crop of grain, which, taking into account the transitional reserves, will create an excess supply in the grain market.

“In this regard, in order to protect the domestic market and exclude the facts of grain re -export on July 26, 2024 at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Training Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations, a decision was made to introduce the ban until December 31, 2024 for the import of wheat All types of transport to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan from third countries and from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, with the exception of the transit of wheat through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as their movement from the territory of one member state of the Eurasian Economic Union to the territory of another member state of the Eurasian Economic Union through territory Republics of Kazakhstan, ”the message says.

The order is enforced from August 21 and is valid until December 31, 2024.
