Kazakhstan celebrates Abai Day

In Kazakhstan, the 178th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet and enlightener Abay Kunanbayev is celebrated.

Birthday of the Kazakh poet Abay (August 10, 1845) officially became a festive date in Kazakhstan in accordance with the Decree of the Government of Kazakhstan of August 4, 2020.

President Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev congratulated Kazakhstanis on the holiday.

“I congratulate everyone on the day of Abay! The great poet made a huge contribution to the spiritual development of the nation. His covenants serve as a moral guideline for the younger generation. The concept of” Adal Azamat “is closely related to his concept of a” perfect person. “Our duty is to honor the invaluable heritage Abay, ”the head of state wrote on the social network X.

Abay Kunanbayuly – Kazakh poet, composer, enlightener, thinker, public figure, founder of Kazakh written literature and its first classic, reformer of culture in the spirit of rapprochement with European culture based on enlightened Islam.

Abay created about 170 poems and 56 translations, wrote poems, “Words of Nazing” (“Kara sөzder”).

Abay was also a composer. He created about two dozen tunes that are popular today. Abay Kunanbaev transferred some of his poems to the music, and the song to his poems “K complex” (“You are the pupil of my eyes”, the translation of Maria Petrov) became folk. Akyn was buried in the village of Judebai, at the foot of Shyngystau. In honor of the two great sons of the Kazakh people, Abay and Shakarim, the majestic complex – the mausoleum, consisting of two minarets, symbolizing the love and respect of subsequent generations, are erected.

On June 8, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a decree on the creation of the Abay region.
