Sberbank’s daughters and VTB in Kazakhstan can change the owner, said the head of the Agency for the Regulation and Development of the Financial Market Madina Abylkasymova Orda.kz.
As the portal reports, this is due to the fact that until July 12, Sberbank is not limited in financial transactions, but then it will also fall under sanctions. “This is called curtailing operations, that is, they can be transferred to other banks during this period. All other operations in the national currency can be carried out with this bank and after the effective date of the entry of sanctions, that is, after July 12, there are no restrictions on Kazakhstani banks maintenance and work with this bank. There are restrictions on the provision of new financing, to maintain correspondent accounts in foreign banks and in foreign currency, ”said Abykasymova.
According to her, these restrictions significantly limit the bank’s activities. The agency has a significant outflow of funds from three Russian banks to Kazakhstani banks
“In this regard, realizing that such restrictions will significantly affect the work of banks, now Sberbank of Kazakhstan and VTB is working on the search for new investors for the sale and change of the owner. After they determine the potential investor, the agency for their part will also provide assistance measures to obtain permission from the United States to withdraw from the sanctions list, ”she added.
The Finryanka Regulation and Development Agency is now ensuring that Kazakhstani banks do not carry out prohibited operations with persons and organizations that are subject to sanctions. Otherwise, there is a risk of secondary sanctions on Kazakhstani banks. If the Russian daughters of Sberbank and VTB change the shareholder, such risks will be reduced.
