Kazakhstan froze the project between Transtelecom JSC and the Russian company Safe Information Zone (Bizon), the cost of which was about $ 39 million. The Russian media reported this.
The companies entered into a contract for the implementation of the project in 2019 for six years. The aim was to create a cloud solution in Kazakhstan, which would automate “Ensuring Protection against Cyberrose”.
According to the head of the analytical center of Zecurion, Vladimir Ulyanov, the stopping of the project could be related to the decision of the Kazakh side to independently develop cybersecurity.
Pir-center consultant Oleg Shakirov is sure that Kazakhstan turned the project due to the fact that Bison is a partner of the Russian Sberbank. Astana turns cooperation with Sberbank and its structures since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine.
“In general, Kazakhstan is still a friendly country for Russia, but such examples can be seen how it is distances in order to avoid the consequences for itself,” the expert added.
In Bison, they did not comment on the freezing of the project, in the Kazakhstan “Transtelecom” they also did not talk about this.
