Kazakhstan Plans To Increase Gas Transit To Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan And China

This year, Kazakhstan plans to increase the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the transit of Turkmen and Uzbek gas to the Chinese People’s Republic. This was announced on Tuesday during the meeting of the Government Minister of Energy of the Republic of Almasadam Satkaliev.

“In October 2023, the transit of Russian gas to the Republic of Uzbekistan was launched. In 2023, 1.28 billion cubic meters were shifted, this year we plan to increase to 3.8 billion cubic meters with a further increase to 11 billion cubic meters per year”, – said Satkaliev, whose words are quoted by vlast.kz.

The minister noted that “sustainable growth” also shows the transit of Turkmen and Uzbek gas to China. According to him, Kazakhstan this year plans to increase transit to 37.1 billion cubic meters, which is 1.5 billion cubic meters more compared to last year.

The issue of supplying Russian gas to Kyrgyzstan transit through Kazakhstan is being worked out now, ”he added.
