Kazakhstan Plans To Increase Oil Refining Within Country

Kazakhstan provides for radically increasing the volume of oil refining within the country – from the current 18 million tons almost doubled to 38 million tons by 2040, for an intermediate purpose of 28 million tons by 2032. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

The development of the oil refinery of Kazakhstan, its transition to a new stage of deep processing and ensuring the country’s energy security became the central topics of the working meeting, which the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akkenzhenov conducted with the leadership of JSC of Kazmunaygaz and four oil refineries – Atyrau, Pavlodar, Shymkent and Aktausky Caspi Bitum Bitumen Plant.

The minister emphasized that the developed concept for the development of the oil refinery for 2025-2040 sets ambitious, but achievable goals that require consolidation of the efforts of the entire industry.

“Strategic vision provides for a radical increase in oil refining within the country – from the current 18 million tons almost doubled, up to 38 million tons by 2040, for an intermediate purpose of 28 million tons by 2032. The implementation of these long -term plans will allow Kazakhstan to significantly increase the share of oil transformed, optimizing the use of the extracted resources and creating products with a high added value ” – follows from the publication.

In addition, tasks of increasing the processing depth to the level of the best world standards (94%), a complete transition to the production of fuel of high environmental classes (K5 and Jet A-1 aircraft fuel), a significant increase in the production of petrochemical products, in demand both in domestic and foreign markets, as well as an increase in the overall technological complexity and efficiency NPZ.

“We should not only provide the domestic market with fuel today, but also lay the foundation for technological sovereignty and sustainable development for decades ahead. The concept sets the vector, but its successful implementation depends on our ability to work efficiently, make bold decisions and bear responsibility for them. There is no time for swinging, the country is waiting for specific results – modern products, quality products and reliable energy supply”. – noted Accent.

Following the meeting, the Minister of Energy gave a number of specific instructions aimed at improving efficiency and responsibility in the industry. The priority of the number one is to ensure the trouble -free and stable operation of all the refinery of the plants is instructed to intensify the implementation of all planned investment projects and ensure personal responsibility for their course, as well as for maintaining social stability in labor collectives.
