Kazakhstan does not recognize separatist education in the East of Ukraine, said the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi journalists in Nur-Sultan, reports “Radio Ozier”.
“We at the moment we do not recognize the Lugansk People’s Republic, nor the Donetsk [Narodnaya] Republic,” said the Minister, commenting on the statements of the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov, spoken by the Western edition Euractiv.
Tleuberdi also stressed that the sanctions entered by the West countries are directed against Russia and Kazakhstan does not join the sanctions: “It is important for us to prevent the negative impact of these sanctions on the development of our economy, and that our territory is not used to bypass these sanctions.”
In response to the question of why Kazakhstan abstained when voting to the UN in two resolutions requiring the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, the head of the Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry said: “To refrain – this is also a position. Such a position is generated with regard to national interests.”
