Kazakhstan Seeks To Bring Transportation Via TMTM To 10 Million Tons Of Cargo

Kazakhstan is aimed at bringing the volume of transportation along the Trans -Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM) up to 10 million tons of cargo.

This is the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, at a meeting with the First Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Economics and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili, who arrived in Astana to participate in the 12th meeting of the Kazakh-Georgian Inter-government Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

According to the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan, the issues of interaction in the fields of transport and logistics, agro-industrial complex, energy, tourism, aviation industry, as well as strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties.

“Georgia is an important and reliable partner in the South Caucasus. In the first quarter of this year, Georgian investors invested $ 88.5 million in the Kazakhstan economy, in just 10 years the volume of investments exceeded $ 500 million,” the government’s press service noted .

The parties focused on prospects in the transit and transport sector. Large transcontinental transport corridors pass through the territories of the two countries – the shortest ways from Europe to China and Southeast Asia, follows from the message.

“Kazakhstan and Georgia are actively cooperating as part of the development of the Trans -Caspian International Transport Route. The transshipment of goods on this route last year increased by 65 percent, over 8 months of this year by 69 percent and reached 2.9 million tons. The head of state devotes a large Attention to the development of the average corridor, and we are aimed at bringing the volume of transportation on this route up to 10 million tons of cargo.

The head of the Government of Kazakhstan noted the importance of continuing joint work to establish competitive tariff conditions, reduce delivery and increase in transportation volumes along the TMTM route, including the Baku -Tbilisi – Kars.

Along with this, the need for the active digitalization of the transport corridor is indicated, which will increase its attractiveness for international carriers.

Levan Davitashvili, in turn, expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Kazakhstan and noted this a special role of the intergovernmental commission, which is designed to give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.

The meeting participants confirmed the intention to continue multifaceted work to ensure the dynamic development of trade and economic partnerships.
