In Kazakhstan, work is underway to increase the authorized capital of the Development Fund for the Defense and Industrial Complex (OPC). This became known from the response of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Olzhasa Bektenov to a deputy request on the development of a defense-industrial complex and state defense order.
“The Ministry of Industry and Construction is working on the creation of a test laboratory for personal armored vehicles on the basis of Steel ManUFACTURING LLP. On September 23, 2024, an agreement was concluded with the Czech company Prototypa -ZM, S.R.O. for the supply of technological equipment (amount – 10 billion tenge, delivery time – August 2025 years).
The prime minister noted that in order to organize a unified system of technical regulation in the field of defense industry, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic in November 2024 approved a road map providing for measures to create a single center for technical control with the determination of the list of weapons and military equipment subject to laboratory research. The deadline for creation according to the plans is 2026.
There is also attention to the Defense Industry Development Fund, which was created in order to support and stimulate the development of domestic defense enterprises.
“Currently, work is underway to increase the authorized capital of the Fund. An application has been prepared for the allocation of funds from the republican budget in the amount of 120 billion tenge. Negotiations are underway with a number of foreign investors (China, the UAE, Turkey, Qatar, Singapore, etc.) to attract foreign investment,” the premiere noted.
