Kazakhstani Peacekeeping Contingent Was Awarded Medals At Golan Heights

Kazakhstani troops participating in the UN peacekeeping mission at the Golan Heights were awarded for their contribution to maintaining peace. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

Medals for participating in the United Nations Mission was awarded to the military commander of the peacekeeping mission, Major General of the Republic of the Republic of Gan Anita Asma.

“An independent Kazakhstani peacekeeping contingent is serving on the basis of the Fauar, performing the tasks of ensuring the ceasefire at the Golan Heights in the Syrian Arab Republic. All 139 military personnel and four staff officers were awarded the UN award,” follows the message.

The department noted that Kazakhstani military personnel provide the protection and strengthening of the defense of the organization’s bases and interact with the local population.

“For 11 months, the peacekeepers neutralized about 200 unexploded shells and carried out a medical evacuation of the UN employee. In December last year, during the evacuation of the UN personnel, from a life -threatening personnel of the contingent, he demonstrated a high level of professional training, coherence and efficiency of actions”, – noted in the message.

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary General of the UN for peacekeeping operations by Jean-Pierre Lacrois and the UN Mission Commander for Observation of Discharging (UNDOF), Major General of the Army of the Republic of the Republic of Gan Anita Asma, noted a high level of combat training, discipline and moral-volitional qualities of Kazakhstani military. “This is our contribution to the maintenance of peace and international security,” said Lieutenant Colonel Jiger Aipov, commander of the peacekeeping company.

Kazakhstan unfolded at the Golan heights the first independent peacekeeping contingent in March 2024.
