King Morocco Muhammad VI announced a pardon of 1533 prisoners in connection with the holiday of Ramazan-Bayram, among which 31 people are serving a sentence for crimes associated with terrorism and extremism.
The written statement of the Ministry of Justice of Morocco says: “King Muhammad VI decided to release 1533 prisoners on the occasion of the holiday.” The statement also emphasizes that 31 convicted on charges of terrorism and extremism was also pardoned.
In Morocco, the king has the right to decide on the pardon of convicts in accordance with the 58th article of the Constitution, especially on the days of national or religious holidays.
