Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, in his speech at the forum in Davos, admitted that he no longer supports the idea of the neutral status of Ukraine. According to him, after the outbreak of war, Ukraine has earned the right to become part of NATO.
“before this war, I was against Ukraine’s membership in NATO because I was afraid that it would begin the process that we are observing now. Now that this process has reached such a level, the idea of neutral Ukraine in these conditions no longer makes sense. At the end … she must get guarantees from NATO, no matter what form NATO provides them. Now Ukraine’s entry into NATO is acceptable, ”said 99 -year -old Kissinger.
Kissinger noted that he continues to believe in the need to maintain a dialogue with Russia, and recalled that Russia is a huge country with nuclear weapons. After the end of hostilities, the “process of discussion by Europe, America and representatives of Russia of monthly conditions, sanctions and preservation of other pressure tools should begin, until settlement has been reached,” he said.
