“I do not see the possibility that the United States or France can take responsibility for our security, the prospect of this is simply not visible.” This was stated at a press conference by ex-president of Armenia Robert Kocharian.
He noted that he has positively evaluates the statements of the United States and France, as well as the visit of Nancy Pelosi to Armenia.
“All the steps that help us to be safe somewhere, I consider positive. But I want us to be realistic. We must correctly evaluate this situation and not fall from one extreme to another,” said Kocharyan.
According to him, Russia has real opportunities to influence the situation, however, it is now constrained by the Ukrainian war.
“The role of the Russian Federation has also decreased due to our defeat. Today, Russia is trying to build similar relations with Azerbaijan. If you carefully read Lavrov’s statements in Baku, you will see what place they give up to Azerbaijan in their policy in the South Caucasus. and What, let’s begin to blame Russia, why does it take steps based on her national interests? It is simply pointless, ”Kocharyan said.
According to him, setting up the Armenian society against Russia will harm his country.
“Yes, the situation may change, we must more actively convince Russia that Armenia is still something else in this region, that with such a policy you can lose it. We need to be convinced, but in this direction Nothing is done. We do nothing, and then we say: why does Russia build a more active relationship with Azerbaijan, if you are not, then what to do, not to engage in this region? ”, Kocharyan concluded.
