The status of nuclear weapons is determined by the doctrinal documents of Russia, they do not change in connection with the decision of the Russian Federation on the suspension of participation in the agreement on measures to further reduce and limit strategic offensive weapons (DSNV).

This was stated by the vice speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.
“Of course, the status of Russian strategic forces, the status of nuclear weapons is determined by our doctrinal documents, and they do not change in connection with the decision of the Russian Federation to suspend the actions of this agreement,” said the senator.
The Council of the Federation unanimously approved a law on the plenipotentiary of the DSNV at a plenary meeting on Wednesday. The document was introduced to the State Duma by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The DSNV is suspended, and the President of the Russian Federation will make a decision to resume Russia’s participation in the contract.
The law must come into force from the day of its official publication.
