Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with the head of the Central Intelligence Department of the United States (CIA) William Burns. This journalists told the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, RBC reports.
“Yes, such a telephone conversation took place,” replied the sands to the relevant question, specifying that the parties discussed bilateral relations, the crisis situation in diplomatic practice, and also exchanged views on regional issues.
Burns visit to Moscow took place on November 2-3. The head of the CIA met with the secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev and the head of the foreign intelligence service Sergey Naryshkin. In the coat, they reported that Patrushev and Burns discussed Russian-American relations.
CNN TV channel later conveyed that the CIA Director came to Moscow to prevent the Russian side that “the United States carefully follows the increasing of the Russian troops at the border with Ukraine,” and to establish the motivation of Russia’s actions. According to the sources of the channel, at meetings with Russian officials Burns warned Moscow from any plans for carrying out any offensive operations. He also expressed concern that Russia could use the issue of gas exports as pressure on European countries.
