Kremlin reacted to application of Ukraine to join NATO

The Kremlin first commented on the application of Ukraine on membership in NATO.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is carefully monitoring the decision regarding the possibility of an accelerated accession of Ukraine to NATO.

“We heard the statement of the President of Zelensky. We saw a different reaction from NATO. There are countries that support this option of accelerated introduction, there are countries that do not support him,” he said.

“Everyone refers to the rules on consensus. We are very carefully observing this decision and remember that it was the orientation of Ukraine to NATO and the confirmation of the future membership of Ukraine in NATO has become one of the reasons for the special military operation,” added Peskov.

September 30, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is applying for NATO membership in an accelerated manner.
