Kyrgyzstan will take steps aimed at developing the CSTO peacekeeping component, including by activating the activities of the special representative of the Secretary General of the CSTO on peacekeeping issues.
This was stated by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, speaking at the next session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Organization (CSTO), held in Astana.
The Chairmen in the CSTO in 2025 moves from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan. At the beginning of his speech, Zhaparov assured that the country would make all the necessary efforts to ensure the progressive development of the organization.
The President focused on the directions of cooperation, primarily on strengthening foreign policy interaction by further use of the practice of taking political documents to designate general views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted that Bishkek intends to pay special attention to the continuation of dialogue with international organizations and third countries in areas of mutual interest to strengthen the role of CSTO in matters of maintaining peace and security.
“In the field of counteracting modern challenges and threats, we will actively promote interaction on the prevention and suppression of the use of information technologies for terrorist and extremist purposes. We will pay special attention to the development of practical cooperation in the framework of existing operations,” the president said, noting the intention to conduct in 2025, an international cybersecurity conference in Kyrgyzstan.
