Kyrgyzstan: protests against transfer of reservoir to Uzbekistan

In Bishkek, an action calling for the authorities to cancel the transfer of the Kempir-Abad reservoir to Uzbekistan, 24.kg.

Protesters signed a petition, which will be transferred to the administration of President Sadyr Zhaparov, the government and the cabinet of ministers.

Protests in the country began on October 22, after the news on the transfer of the reservoir, a committee was created in support of the Kampier Abad. It included activists, politicians and deputies of the parliament. On Monday, the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan arrested the founder of Kyrgyzstan political party Kanat Isaeva.

“Isaev was detained with the establishment of a period until November 23, 2022, with the contents of the Kyrgyz Republic in the JuADS,” said the representative of the press service of the court.

In Kyrgyzstan on October 23, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in addition to Isaev, on suspicion of organizing riots, more than 20 politicians, human rights activists, public figures and ex-officials were detained. Searches were carried out in their homes, previously detained opposed the transfer of the Kempir-Abad reservoir to Uzbekistan in the framework of demarcation and delimitation of the border between the two countries.
