Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will limit entry of Russians

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia agreed to limit the entry of Russians into their countries through land borders with Russia and Belarus, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgar Rinkevich.

According to him, officially the ban will be announced in the coming days. He will touch the holders of Schengen visas issued by any European country.

Exceptions will be made only for drivers of trucks, diplomats and people entering the Baltic states for humanitarian or family reasons.

Earlier, the EU Supreme EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrel, said that now the presence of a Schengen visa does not give Russian citizens a guarantee for entry into the European Union. This decision was made by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU countries at a meeting in Prague on August 30-31. There it was decided to cancel the simplified regime for the issuance of visas to the Russians. The Baltic countries actively advocated the ban on the issuance of visas to Russian travelers. On August 18, Estonia ceased to let Russians with Estonian Schengen visas into its territory, reminds Moscow Times.
