Ukraine is fighting for its freedom, and in this connection it must be supported in every way. This was stated by President of Latvia Egils Levits, speaking at one of the events as part of a visit to Germany.
Paying attention to the situation in Ukraine, Levits emphasized that against the background of the war it became clear that “the presence of deep economic ties alone is not enough to counter totalitarian regimes.”
“Ukraine is fighting for freedom, and it must be supported in every way. The unity and determination of the EU member countries surprised Moscow. We must learn lessons from history. It is important to make the necessary adjustments to our perception of the world in order to protect the main values and democracy” , – says the President of Latvia.
affecting the topic of interaction with Germany, the politician said that German companies entered the Latvian market or opened their subsidiaries, as they considered the conditions for doing business, including in terms of business ethics.
“Today, Latvia and Germany as members of the EU and NATO are actively contributing to ensuring peace and stability in Europe,” the president emphasized.
