Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs to deport 34 Russian citizens

The Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs ordered 34 Russians. This was announced by the head of the department Richards Kozlovskis.

“Given 34 departments of departure,” cites the words of the minister LRT.

According to Kozlovskis, the Russians did not comply with the requirements of amendments to the law on immigration and did not submit documents to obtain a residence permit for living in Latvia.

Earlier, the Department of Citizenship and Migration of Latvia submitted to the border service data on approximately 800 Russians who did not have the right to stay in the country.

As Kozlovskis said, at least 600 people left Latvia, mainly through Estonia. More than 100 people are not at home, but so far there is no information about whether they left the country.

In Latvia, more than 25 thousand citizens of Russia with special status live. Before you get a Russian passport, they were Latvian citizens or (overwhelming majority) so -called non -citizens.

At the end of September 2022, the Latvian parliament – Sejm – legislatively annulled permanent residence permit for such persons from September 2, 2023. To maintain the right to live in Latvia, they must arrange a residence permit according to the new procedure. For this, in particular, you need to submit a certificate of knowledge of the Latvian language.
