Latvian Seim has forbade gas supply from Russia since 2023

The Latvia Sejm in the final reading approved the ban on the supply of natural gas from Russia from January 1, 2023, writes Delfi. The parliament also approved regulation on agreements with other EU countries on the ways to ensure.

Amendments were proposed by deputies from the new conservative party.

The country’s Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevsi at the end of May announced the plans of the authorities to build a gas supply station and refuse to supply Russian gas.

Since April, the “unfriendly” Russia of the state, including Latvia, must pay for the supply of Russian gas in rubles according to a specially created scheme using currency and ruble accounts in Gazprombank. In the EU, calculations in rubles were considered a violation of sanctions.
