“The extension of NATO to the East affects the safety of Russia.” This was stated by the Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, reports TASS.
According to him, Moscow will not forget the principle of indivisibility of security, including the OSCE, in the Council “Russia – NATO”, which states that no one should strengthen its security due to the safety of others.
“And the further promotion of NATO will definitely affect the indigenous interests of our security,” said Sergey Lavrov.
He stressed that Moscow is not interested in conflicts.
“But if our partners from NATO declare that no one has the right to dictate the country who wants to join NATO, maybe it can do it or not, we present the provision of international law that each state has the right to choose ways to ensure their legitimate Interests in the field of security, “said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
