Lavrov: mission of Russian contingent in Syria is almost completed

“The Russian contingent in Syria has almost no military tasks, the number of troops” on Earth “is determined by specific tasks, decide how many military ones should be in Syria, will be from the principle of expediency.” This was in an interview with RT Arabic by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

He was asked if the number of Russian troops in Syria is preserved.

“It is clear that there are practically no military tasks, but only to ensure stability and security. Directly from the military tasks that the Syrian army solves with our support, this is Idlib, where the terrorist threat has not disappeared, it has survived. There are no appeals from the Syrian leadership. If such decisions are recognized as appropriate, they will be implemented, ”added Lavrov.

He noted that Turkey in Syria is trying to “fulfill what the presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed about several years ago”, but “the case, as we all see, is going tight.”
