“When our conditions for a package agreement with the UN will be met, we will return to the grain agreement.”
Minister Lavrov spoke at a joint press conference organized after his meeting with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Moscow.
Lavrov said that during the meeting, the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin was discussed on the supply of 1 million tons of grain to Turkey. On the agenda there is a question that this grain will be processed in Turkey, and then with the support of Qatar to go to the countries that most in need.
Having emphasized that Western countries should take steps to resume the Black Sea Grain Agreement, suspended on July 18, Lavrov said: “Although we value the efforts of the United Nations (UN), there are promises that have not been fulfilled by the West. When our conditions will be fulfilled By a package agreement with the UN, we will return to the grain agreement. “
Lavrov noted that Russia is highly appreciated by the foreign policy approach of Turkey.
“We highly appreciate the foreign policy of Turkey, despite the skeptical initiatives of Western countries. In this context, we continue constructively, as equal partners, to work on a mutually beneficial basis,” he stressed.
explaining that the parties want to take steps to increase the turnover between the two countries, especially in the field of energy, tourism and agriculture, Lavrov said that they will continue to move in this direction, despite obstacles from Western countries.
Having stated that Russia is ready to increase natural gas supply to Turkey, Lavrov said: “Our strategic projects are developing, especially in the energy sector, which is traditionally the locomotive of relations between countries.”
Lavrov noted that during a meeting with Minister Fidan, the problem of Ukraine was discussed.
“The peaceful formula, represented by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, is unacceptable for Russia,” the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized.
According to Lavrov, the parties also discussed steps to normalize relations between Turkey and Syria.
