The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said that the West avoids a subject conversation about the causes of the conflict in Ukraine, because “he does not have honest arguments.”
Lavrov said this, speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council in Ukraine.
“The West avoids the subject of the facts and respect for all the requirements of the UN Charter. Apparently, he has no arguments for an honest dialogue,” he said.
Lavrov noted that today in the rhetoric of Western opponents Moscow hears only slogans: invasion, aggression, annexation. “
According to him, the West turns to the principles of the UN Charter only “in accordance with its selfish geopolitical needs.”
“This inevitably leads to the loosening of global stability, the exacerbation of the existing and inciting new foci of tension. The risks of a global conflict are growing,” Lavrov said.
According to Lavrov, it was in order to reduce these risks, to direct events into a peaceful channel, “Russia insisted and insists that all the provisions of the UN Charter are respected and applied not selectively, but in their entirety and interconnection.”
“The actions of the United States and its allies indicate a systematic violation of the balance of requirements assigned to the charter,” he continued.
The head of Russian diplomacy emphasized that even after the Cold War, the collective West, led by the United States, “selflessly appropriated the rank of the ruler of the fate of all mankind and was overwhelmed by the complex of exclusivity, began to more and more broadly to ignore the legacy of the founding fathers.”
Lavrov believes that the West tore off the implementation of the Minsk agreements and therefore “bears a direct responsibility for the collapse of Ukraine and the incitement of the civil war in it.”
“Now there are calls from Brussels to expand the members of the EU as soon as possible, including Balkan countries. But the main pathos is not about Serbia, not about Turkey, which have been conducting hopeless negotiations on the introduction for decades, but about Ukraine, – said He.
According to him, the current crisis in Europe could be avoided if NATO had not rejected the OTCB proposals for cooperation. Lavrov said that Russia has been refused to listen or deceived for decades.
