Lawyers Of Russian Oppositionist Navalny Were Sentenced To Prison Terms

Three former lawyers of the Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny – Vadim Kobzev, Alexei Lipzer and Igor Sergunin – were sentenced to prison terms “for participation in the extremist community”.

The hearings were held in the Petushinsky District Court in closed mode. The defendants in the case were found guilty “in participation in the extremist community.”

According to the Russian media, Kobzev was appointed five years in six months in prison with a sentence in a penal colony of general regime, Lipzer – five years of colony, and Sergunin – three years six months.

Kobzev and Lipzer did not plead guilty, while Sergunin pleaded guilty, as reported, even under the investigation.

two other lawyers of Navalny, Olga Mikhailova and Alexander Fedulov, were also arrested in absentia on similar charges and put on the wanted list.

Russian oppositionist Navalny, included in the list of persons related to terrorism and extremism in Russia, and found guilty of creating an extremist community, died in prison in February 2024.
