Lebanon And Syria Discussed Clashes On Lebanon-Syrian Border

Prime Minister Livan Najip Mikati and the leader of the new administration in Syria Ahmed Sharaa discussed clashes on the Lebanon-Syrian border.

According to the press service of the Lebanese Prime Minister, Mikati in a telephone conversation with Sharaa discussed bilateral relations and issues representing paramount importance.

During the conversation, the leaders also touched on the theme of clashes between the Lebanese military and armed faces on the Syrian border in the eastern part of Lebanon.

The leader of the Syrian administration Sharaa assured, the corresponding units “do everything necessary” to restore calmness on the Lebanese border and prevent the repetition of the incident.

Sharaa invited Mikati to Syria to discuss common issues between the two countries and strengthen bilateral ties.

Earlier in the army of Lebanon, they reported clashes on the Syrian side of the border with armed persons, during which 5 Lebanese soldiers were injured.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese media reported that the clashes occurred between the Syrian smugglers and Lebanese soldiers.

In turn, the Minister of Internal Affairs Livan Bassam Mavlavi said that the armed persons who entered into clashes with the Lebanese army had no connections with the Syrian government.
