Nadzhib Mikati officially headed the New Government of Lebanon, said the speaker of the Cabinet of Ministers Mahmoud Makia.
“The President of the Republic on the basis of the Constitution signed the appointment of Nadzhib Mikati to the post of Prime Minister,” said Makia.
Another decree, President Michel Aun accepted the resignation of the Government of the Performed Duty Premiere Hassan Diaba.
From August 2020, there was no government in Lebanon. The Cabinet was actually dissolved after the explosion in the port of Beirut. Mikati’s candidacy for the position of Prime Minister was approved by the Lebanon Parliament in July of this year. Independent politician and businessman from Lebanese Tripoli Nadzhib Mikati twice headed the government of the country: during the acute political crisis of 2005 after the murder of the ex-Prime Minister Rafa Hariri and during the crisis in neighboring Syria in 2011-2014.
