Libya will not be able to increase the export of natural gas to Europe in the event of an energy crisis, said RIA Novosti Minister of Oil and Gas Country Muhammad Aun.
“I don’t think that in the foreseeable future we will have the opportunity to increase the volume of gas to send it to export, even if the load on extractive deposits will be increased. I do not think that they will be in sufficient volumes that can resolve the crisis in the European Union” , “said Aun.
The Minister noted that earlier Libya exported gas on the green flow pipe in Italy and this fuel fell into a pan-European network. However, these volumes are now used on power plants and other objects in Libya itself.
EU began to search for gas suppliers in case of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Russian authorities have repeatedly denied plans for military conflict, resembles RBC. Western partners fear that Russia will block the gas of Europe after possible sanctions in the event of aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, major energy companies in Europe reported that they would not be able to cover the volume of gas that Russia supplies, wrote Reuters with reference to sources.
