Member of the Liberal Movement Pyashtravyavichyus and deputy of the Lithuanian Sejm Raimundas Lopat issued a statement in which the government and the country’s leadership called for no discounts for Russia and reject the proposals that allow the sanctions to move through Lithuania to Kaliningrad, writes Delfi.
“We do not approve of any so-called clarification of the European Commission, which cancels, interprets, introduces exceptions, quotas for Russian goods authorized by the decision of the European Union in Lithuania, regardless of whether they are transported in transit or somehow, since we consider that the competence of canceling or introducing sanctions belongs to the European Council. While Ukrainian ports are blocked, Brussels must strengthen sanctions pressure on Moscow. Until then there are no discounts for Russia, ”said Lopata.
The European Commission intends to adopt the seventh package of sanctions against Russia on July 15. It is noted that already existing restrictive measures will be adjusted to remove obstacles for the export of food and grain from Russia.
