Lithuania should understand the seriousness of the consequences of the ban on railway transit of goods to the Kaliningrad region, said Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova.
“I hope that representatives of Lithuania have any professionalism in assessing the situation. They must understand the consequences – and the consequences, unfortunately, will come,” Zakharova said, accusing Lithuania’s authorities of aggressive behavior in relation to Russia and In violation of international law, writes RBC.
“In this case, this passed the borders, it is frankly hostile behavior,” she concluded.
Since June 18, Lithuania has banned the transit of suction goods between the Kalinigrand region and the rest of Russia. This decision affected the supply of building materials, metals, cement and other goods to the region, which in the spring fell under the sanctions of the European Union. The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, in response to Moscow’s claims, said that the country is observing the EU sanctions and does not introduce any unilateral and additional restrictions. The ministry added that the transit of goods that did not fall under the restrictive measures of Brussels continues.
